About the Series

"Between a laugh and a tear and across the open roads of life comes a new dramatic television series."

THIS HARD LAND is an idea inspired in the minds of series Creators Sam and Stephanie Steele by Bruce Springsteen's words and music. As Sam tells it, "I was inspired by Springsteen's words and thought process in creating the characters in his songs and the world he placed them in. As a long time fan, I have often imagined them as real people living real lives in the real world and felt a certain kinship to them. They are a part of the same human community that binds us to each other, after all - or should.”

THIS HARD LAND is a human story about ordinary people striving to break down the barriers that stand in the way of a less oppressive future. It's not about specific characters in Springsteen’s music but about the universal themes conveyed through it. And no one tells the narrative of the human condition in words and music better than Bruce Springsteen.

From his first album, “Greetings from Asbury Park, New Jersey” to his latest “Magic,” Springsteen’s narrative is communicated with “blue collar” coarseness symbolic of a life of hard work and strife. The words may change depending on the thought expressed but the sentiment of struggling to survive and finding redemption within an unyielding world is something we believe most will relate to

We hope you’ll support the show and meet me us in a dream of THIS HARD LAND.
